Drive operating temps

I have a Blackhawk Drive, which I think from a temperature standpoint may be similar to the bravo, and I’m inquiring about two questions

1) what’s a typical max drive temperature and/or maybe a sustained temperature?

2) looking to add a gauge for that temperature and where the proper or best location is to pick that temperature up. Possibly a thermal couple in the upper fluid fill screw?

thank you!

You can buy heat indicating strips from MC master Carr. put em on the drive and find out .

True.
It will just stay at highest temperature it ‘records.’

OP, Here's one of a few good discussions on this subject here on OSO:

I tried this game 3 years ago and failed.

I took spare drive plugs and modified them by drilling holes. Then I took thermocouples and potted them and hooked up multi meters.

took it out for a test drive…. Never worked never got good readings. Why…because of grounding and a lot of electrical interference. Will post pics if I can find them.

your solution is probably the cheapest and most reliable without spending $$$ on kits that claim to read oil accurately.
