Imco -2 lower question

How manny rpm would you pick up wen u put on a -2 lower on a single 30 V bottom with a pad 6500 lb boat 502 500hp 1.5 gear ratio bravo 4 blade prop lower is about 4 inches below pad now. TIA

Griff 01-07-2026 08:43 PM

My guess is you won't even be able to get on plane with a -2 lower and Bravo prop.

tripps 01-08-2026 02:43 PM

Lower

It has a bravo now plane s off without even touching tabs!!!!

F-2 Speedy 01-08-2026 03:15 PM

tripps 01-08-2026 08:39 PM

Imco

F-2 Speedy 01-08-2026 08:53 PM

Im surprised its still together..............id get the revs down around 5200 5300.........maybe a 28-30 pitch, then address the drive issue

Going from 4" below the bottom to 2" below is a huge change. Most single engine V's are set up in the 3-5" below range.

I agree with Griff. You can install an IMCO SC -2 lower but you'll probably end up with a 1-1.5 inch spacer. I do like the IMCO SC lowers though, very little drag.

Thanks guys ill let u know how it worked in June!!!!

boostbros 01-10-2026 04:59 PM

i put a 2 inch shorter sportmaster on our 25 foot thunder and lost the fun of overtrimming and winding it to the moon nothing sounds like a na bigblock wound up to 7000rpm it still slides on plane with no effort, it was more fun with it deep

Interested to hear how it turns out. I want to do the same thing. If there is any cavitation issues, my hunch is moving to a 5 blade propeller would fix it.

Okay have a 24-ft Baja I put an imco - 2 no problem planning off I have to run Bravo 1 prop I tried 27 3-blade will not plan off only playing off with the four blade that's just my boat I think it needs a cavitation plate you can buy and put it on but I'm happy with the four blade cuz the boat handles great doesn't sidewalk at all

A 24' Baja starts with propshaft depth in the basement at around 7" below the bottom.

I have CAD/dxf filee, for large cav plate used with -2 sportmaster. Just bend The sides after IT IS Cut. Works like at charm, prop shaft 3.7" Below bottom on My 26ft stinger.
