I am looking at a Fusion MS-AV600G, has anyone used this unit?
Sounds like a great little unit, how's the sound/power without an amp? thinking no amp on to the cabin speakers but want decent sound, this way if I'm crashing in the cabin i can turn off the amp and save battery

I love alpine controls however at high volume they seem to distort more than I liked versus a pioneer non marine head unit it previously had. I switched to alpine for the remotes only. They have the best looking controls IMO.

Alpine is moving away from marine, like someone mentioned earlier in this thread. The 2014 product line-up doesn't have a single marine head unit. The last few years they had the wireless remotes. They weren't completely wireless, they still needed power. There was also a really bad lag. You press the volume button, there's a delay, then the volume goes up. Not friendly if you hold down the button for volume up - then you overshoot.
I do a lot of Clarion marine, and they've got a solid product. I also like the Fusion stuff, but they're head units and remotes are odd-sized, so unless it's a blank plate you're adding to, sometimes modifying isn't possible.

I'm getting the Clarion M704 as soon as they become available. Able to have 2 zone control and other great features. Looks to be the best feature rich marine head unit available IMHO. CMS5 looks good also.

Alipne is in fact going to release a new Marine line of headunits in late 2014 early 2015 per local Alpine dealer. As far as Clarion goes for the love of god please bring a headunit out with a pre amp out for subs. Who only has 2 outputs anymore? I called clarion about the new line And they said late summer before the release. They said they aim most of there sales toward new boats and factory installed units. I am amazed at all the companies out there that don't have there product ready at the prime time. Who wants to wait until the end of summer?

Just got my Fusion MS-ip700i. In addition to the features I listed previously it also has Ethernet. That means I can put a wireless router on the boat, and use my iphone and/or ipad with the Fusion app to completely control the device. I think Fusion, right now, has one of the best marine headunits out. They are a standard single DIN radio, however the face plate is larger, so if you are in a tight space, they might not fit. I cannot wait to get it wired up. As for the wireless router, nost of the home use AC wireless routers are 12v DC (with an AC converter). So wiring should be a snap for the Ethernet portion.
