How do you guys cut thru the vinyl without tearing it to shreds with a jigsaw? |
A saw that size is a hundred bucks, not worth it for 2 holes, to me.

I used a dremel. I dont really care if its "perfect" since the speaker covers it up.

I use a single armed adjustable hole saw. I cut a piece of wood to span the opening from the inside. Then I find the center and mark it. I center the hole saw on the X and go to town.
20 years of audio experience has taught me that tip. A perfect hole every time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpSgKfYASGk |

Thanks for the threads, appreciate them. I will upgrade the stereo in the AT. 2 - 10 inch subs 2 - 8.8 coaxials 2 - 7.7 coaxials 2 - tweeters 1 - MHD 900/5 amp All JL Audio and M series speakers. I'll start with this and see how it is and if need be ill add more later. |
For me it really depends on the hole I have to cut and the area I have to cut in. Whenever possible I use a hole saw of the right size. 10" hole saws are pretty expensive, so I will use a jig saw or a rotozip for those.

The 10" may have a bit of a hard time keeping up with the four coaxial speakers, but should add some solid bass to the system. |
