Just installed a new Garmin 7610 in an open cockpit boat - Skater. The screen is so washed out in the sun that it is almost illegible. I have not adjusted the backlighting, but it does not compare to the clarity of the 740 it replaced. Does anyone have input on this?

I talked with Ron at Electronic Unlimited. He suggested checking the backlight setting. It was at 50%. Fixed that now it is fantastic! Thanks, Ron!

Just curious, I'm looking at the same model to replace a Simrad 8.4" unit I have. Does this unit support Smartcraft and fuel burn? Any deals thru electronics unlimited? I know they are brand new.

Yes, They do all that and more! If you have a Fusion stereo, connect and you have a 10" I Pod touch screen. You can custom configure screens with the data you want - fuel, oil, water etc. The HD charts are excellent as well. I am sure that Ron could help you out.

Thanks, last time I checked at West Marine, they still were not being shipped. I'll give him a call. I did hear that Garmin bought Fusion, hence the interface option, cool!
