Looking to make my stereo a little louder. Not looking to build anything crazy. Boat is a formula 242 has 4 infinity 6.5s under the rear bench and 2 6x9 infinity up front. Also has a 12 inch kicker installed in the bow not connected currently. Radio is a new dual unit. The radio sounds good just hard to hear at speed. So I'm thinking of adding an amp or two. Looking at a cheap Pyle amp of Amazon it's a 8 channel amp so I can run 6 speakers and bridge the other 2 for the sub? Sound like a decent plan? Seems easier then running 6 speakers off 4 channels with a seperate amp for the sub?

Pyle of junk. Try to find a local "reputable" audio shop and go from there. Buying junk off Amazon means you'll spend more money later down the road.

You can get some decent amps for reasonable prices, but remember.....you get what you pay for. Also, if the amp is mounted in the cabin, a marine amp really isn't necessary. I'm a big JL Fan, but there's plenty of other good amps out there.

Nothing wrong with Sony or Fosgate marine amps, and wont break the bank

Id go with a rockford fosgate marine amp if you're looking to keep it cheap and not buy some total eBay garbage brand.

Pyle is flea market junk. Don't waste the money.

I highly recommend the PPI phantom amps. I have a 900.4 for my mids/highs and the 1000.1 to my subs. System sounds great. I paired the amps up with two brand new Napa deep cycle marine batteries wired together in parallel and I can listen to music as loud as I want all day long. I was on the water 10hrs last weekend in the Las Vegas heat and the batteries and amps never flinched. Pounded hard until we loaded the boat on the trailer.

Get the speakers up where you can hear them..it makes a huge difference. I have 4 6.5" in my cockpit with twin BBC's 4" wide open exhaust. I can hear them no problem at WFO.

This is the best advice in the thread. People will quote the most expensive brands they know and that seems at first like legit advice. But it doesn't matter if your speaker arrangement is bad.

Get them high where you can hear them and you'll be very pleased. Made pods at the helm for my last boat and it rocked.
