Default Removing GPS antenna

I have a new Garmin GPS, it is a 547 and has an internal antenna or you can use an external. Here is the problem, I have an older Garmin antenna on the dash that goes with a Garmin 182 C. The newer Garmin takes an antenna that gets more satellites. I want to take the old one off but do not know how it goes together. Tried turning it counter clockwise but no go and did not want to break something. The newer ones have a set screw and you loosen that and twist it off the base.

Anyone know how this is mounted?

Mine twisted off- seemed twenty times tighter than possble. I think the combo of salt air, aluminum base and threads worked better than loctite.
