Adding more JL to my new boat
I just bought a 2018 Sea Fox 28' center console. From the factory it came with a JL media master 100, a M600/6 powering six 7.7M series speakers, and a M600/1 that powers two M series 10's. Clearly that isn't enough so I bought four M 6.5's and a MHD-900/5 amp to add to the system. I also intend to buy at two additional subs to run on the MHD-900.
I have two questions.
1. Does that MHD-900 have enough power to run 12's or should I stick with another set of 10's or maybe even a set of their new 8's?
2. I know from experience with my last boat that the MHD is a vastly more powerful and cleaner sounding amp than the M600/6. How should I divide up the speaker load? I'm thinking four 7.7's and a set of subs on the more powerful MHD900 since the 7.7's are larger, two 7.7's and four 6.5's on the M600/6, and leave the original set of 10's on the M600/1. Thoughts or suggestions?

well ive got a jl1200 digital amp if you need some real sub power , almost brand new sitting on my shelf , got sick of no batteries after hr of pounding stereo ,, now I just enjoy the others stereos . save my electrical system for my ignitions .. sounds like loud mofo .

I ran two of these MHD900’s stacked running ten 6.5’s two 7.7’s and four 10’s in my last boat which had four deep cell batteries set up just like as in my new boat. Pics of my old boat are still on JL’s website. I ran it hard at least four hours at the last poker run and had no power issues when it was time to start up and go home. These JL amps sip power compared to the Rockford marine amps I was using before.

Larger speakers don't require more power. They generally are more efficient and capable of using more power without failing. And all else being equal will produce more volume (db's) especially at lower frequencies. So - me, I would go for the 2 12's. And mount them close together
