I'm doing a Garmin 742, so connecting the blue wire from the speedo does what? Ties the speedo to the Garmin, or ties the Speedo's external antenna to the Garmin (to share antenna)?

If you dont have an external antenna you can hook your gps speedo to the blue wire of the garmin cable to the speedo, so it uses the internal antenna of the garmin to run the speedo
