Looking at upgrading the GPS/Fishfinder for my 35ZF. Any recommendations for a 2 screen setup in the dash? one for gps/fish finder the other to run vessel view information when we upgrade the motors to verados. I am looking at the Garmin (I've always been a fan and they worked well on my other boats) Anything special I should be thinking about when getting ready for the upgrade. I won't have using Flir but may use it as a head unit (along with a fusion head unit). The boat is typically used for cruising and a little fishing, so a depth finder and sonar along with a chart plotter is all we will be needed for it.
Let me know if you have any recommendations and any other good ideas for it.

2 of these would do nicely. Of course you would have to measure to fit. If that particular Fusion is NMEA 200 compatible then relocate it and control it with the garmins. If not I think they make an under dash unit that has no screen and is placed out of site out of mind and is controlled by the garmin. I have heard but not verified that the new garmins will be smart craft capable via a software upgrade. I can can confirm that Most Simrads have been compatible for years. . Personally I love the simrads. Also be aware that for smartcraft/ vesselview to work on any plotters they will need a vesselview box that cost about 550 for a single or 1200 or so for twins. Well worth it. I am an amature fisherman so I like the In Hull Transducers that shoo a bean through the hull. Not as good at seeing fish but great for bottom and or drop off detection and depth. Usually its an Airmar P79 or similar with the correct connector for your unit. When you decide on a unit just call the GPS store and ask for correct airmar in hull transducer..

Chris,
Thanks so much for the information! I didn't know that fusion made an under dash unit, I'll have to look into that since this head unit is shot, as per the previous owner. Its looking like all the electronics will need a refresh. I'm hoping this winter I ill be able to get them all done for next season. I'll be looking into the Garmin and their interface with the smart craft as we plan on upgrading the power in the near future.
