Think the 36 still does but wouldnt doubt that the speedster and coupe have been redone since.
By any chance was the the cartbon fiber hull in that 27. My buddies 2006 33'daytona has 2 1100hp at 6500rpm and over1000#'s of torque atl ess than 4000rpm on pump gas and 9#'s boost. engines with imco extreme sc with 1.25 :1 and bravo 36 pitch props. I nick named it "DEATH TRAP". We have gone 142mph on gps@ 6000 rpm hitting the 6000 rpm limter. Since then I changed the limiter too 6800 and lab finished both props. He has blown up 4 drives in less than 2 years. If the drives would hold it would probably do 150- 160 mph.The engine made power past 6500 but the dyno operator didnt want too push it any more.btw this 33 porpoised at about 110-120.

The 27 was a carbon series but not a light layup. Been talking to Dustin Whipple hes working through some different issues as well. Hes running different drive packages. Curious to see how his turns out. Made 162 mph pass he said with some transition at 100mph. I can say like adren. Props make a huge difference in this hull. Ours loves rake.

My buddies boat was built right after dustin boat was built. I also tried too put a set of quad rotors on the enginee I bult but they had problems getting them back then.Last time i saw dustins boat it had imco 1000's on it for drives. I wonder how those are holding up. My buddy also has a couple 100 #'s of stereo up front also. Might make a difference in speed the the boat start too porpoise. Btw I had too lower the boost on those engines because it was getting too expensive replacing tose drives every other weekend. The boat still does over 130mph with 3-4 #'s of boost and I havent rejetted the carbs yet running extremly rich.Buddies currently looking for a bigger cat like skater or mti with # 6 drives that either has no power or something like twin 525's that we would swap in the 1100hp engines into. When I built them money wasnt an issue he got the best of everything about 30000 in parts alone each engine. When it came too drives he went cheap .he said he would take it easy on them and he has but when you making over 1000 #'s of torque @ less then 4000 rpm somthing gonna give.1 time he accelerated from 60mph too 90mph and the drive just let go .I keep tellling him I told you so haha. What good is all that power if you cant use it oh well.

LOL thats the reason we went to the 700 with NXTs went through 5 drives last year got real old! #6 drives and alot less stress is what I would say. Hopefuly he gets it worked out nothing worse than a summer full of drive failures. Be happy you didnt get the quadrotors they were a nightmare. I will just leave it at that.

Really! I love whipples , I had one of the fastest smog legal chevy pickup back in the 90's.I had a whipple and almost every smog legal part like heads, cam ,headers. Truck was 4500#'s and did 0-60mph in the 4 sec range and low 12's in the quarter. 500+ hp & 700+foot #s out of a 355 small block on pump gas. Blew up alot of 700r4's and had to put in a 4L80e . Instant boost from that little supecharger.
We ended up putting the new all BILLET 14-71 Blower Shop They where pretty new back then, really nice blowers.

If you're talking about Dustin's boat with the Hemi's ..... it's in my kneck of the woods. He popped a couple of the IMCO's and then decided to go with BMAX's. The IMCO's ran the 2 nich shorties with an inch and 1/2 spacer making it only truly 1/2 inch shorter than stock. With the BMAX's and that X dimension it didn't handle worth a flip. Made the BMAX's a true 2 inch shorty and it's set up right now - handles real well and doesn't want to blow out or tail walk as it was before. It's still a blast these days....

What your saying he blew up the new imco sc 1000's. What kind of power those hemi's making. We never had any tail walking in my buddies boat I does blow out once n while but I think thats from operator error not adjusting the 4 foot tab properly. He has imco extreme sc with 2 inch shorties with 1.25 gears and 36 pitch bravos labed to a 37.

Not the IMCO SC's - these were the "old school" drives - The Hemi's make 1200HP and over 1000lbs of torque.

Im not getting into what Dustins running all I will say is that whipple has a great blower. The Quad Rotor was a piece of chit! to say the least. Maybe you noticed they dont make it anymore. The 5.o liter replaced it. Also our 5 drives we broke were B-max HT which was about as much of a piece. Our stock XR never broke used it as our backup to the Bmax ended up being used longer. Went to a 14-71 blowershop blower endreli hat EFI built by pfaff loved it. Put it this way I tried to sell the quadrotor to pfaff to take some off the motor he said he wouldnt take it whipple is a product we sell and wont bash them just wont take that blower! Bought it for $9000 sold it for $2800 after using it for 4 months.
