Default my new 27....well new to me,anyway

Well I have gotten the boat home and I am looking for advice.
I have a local gentleman who will be helping me but I need more information.

I want to try some different props, new reeds, etc.

I havent run the boat much yet, but I exspect performance to be in the mid 80's.

Any of you guys have any advice?
I am new to the outboard game, but I am looking forward to learning the ropes.

Any advice positive or negative is helpful.

1993 260 hp Merc. 2.5 with Merc 14.5 x 28 props.

The boat is a 1988, but it has been very well taken care of.
I believe the boat started in WI, then to DL the briefly to ID.
Now it it back in Tennessee, and I have big plans for it.

I have wanted a Daytona now for quite some time, my family and I are excited.

Thanks , MP

His first post said he expects it to be in the mid 80's.

Default Well it think....

I have had the boat to 83 with a handheld and 1/2 to 3/4 tanks. 3 people in the boat.

I figure with a few tweaks to the engines, (reeds ??) i can gain a few hp which would allow for 30" props.

I was hoping there was someone with a simular setup that has been down that path.

Like I said, I will probably have to spend a little bit and try to do a little trial and error. I was trying to minimize the error with some research.

Thanks in advance...MP

Default Yes,

Oh and yes this is my first cat, I have had 5 boats in the last five years, and I hope to keep this one a little while anyway.

The only thing that has been a negative has been the insurance part of it. it was a tad high I thought.
I thought with the age and the setup mit would be less.

Oh well....thanks for any advice....MP

What is the insurance costing you?

What reeds are in the motor now? Do you feel the motor is down on power. Reeds CAN help, but not always the answer. What RPM's are the motors turning? Do you feel there is enough "lift" in the boat?

Props can be a bigger help than reeds will on that application.
