I'm guessing every cat builder copied something from Bob, but if you look back at the 2001 drawings of the DCB's there are some simalarities. I don't think it really matters, I was just making an observation, from what I can tell from a drawing it should be a nice looking boat.

Funny that peeps say that...Bob actually did Dave's fiberglass work when DCB was first getting started...

Airpacker 12-27-2007 06:51 AM

Didn't dave start by rigging Bob's hulls? I guess imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Adrenaline Junkie 07-07-2008 09:24 PM

Schue, nice to see this project coming along. When I visted the factory after test driving my 36 in April, I saw the wood workers finishing up the molds on this boat...just prior I got a chance to see the red 36 speedster Bob had ( which I fell in love with- the detailng was insane and the TCM motors made me decide what my next motors would be...) - so I really had an appreciation of what the 28 was going to shape up to be.

I'm looking forward to seeing this fnished product....has the power been decided for this one?

oh and by the way, I am looking for an easy way to do Desert Storm again next year -and would be happy to demo a 36, or 28 speedster at DS 09 :D

I believe this first one is getting Merc 700s...but the design will take 1075's....
DS next year would be a great time to run your new motors...:p We could pick it up on our way back from Daytona in Feb...:sport009:
Sure do enjoy your exploits/write-ups on running your Coupe back there...:ernaehrung004:

It looks like the same hull. Is it the same hull?

shueman 07-22-2008 08:06 PM

It's a NEW mold off the 27/28 Daytona bottom. They did some minor "tweaking" to achieve the desired look and performance targets...:ernaehrung004:

rsess 07-23-2008 08:46 AM

When you say the 27/28 bottom, do you mean the 1988-91 27 foot bottom that became the 28. Or are you saying the present 27 and 28 have the same bottom. I thought the present day 27 had the 26 bottom. Confusing. Please let me know I have an original 1988 27 Daytona.
