27' Eliminator Daytona Maiden Voyage

Here are some pics and a video of my 27' Eliminator Daytona, built by Boostpower USA. This past saturday we took it out to Lake Piru for it's first run and some final tuning. My dad also came along with his 21' Schiada River Tunnel. Sorry, the video is not the best quality. Enjoy.

nice did you get hassled by the sherrifs because of the speed limit? bring it out to castaic sunday..

fastlane40 04-02-2008 08:16 AM

Hey ARA what drive , prop and drive height?

Ara 04-02-2008 09:42 AM

Na, they didn't bother us. We got there pretty early and left by about 1:00pm. Plus since we were tuning, we weren't going that fast. Also, the lake was full of logs and other floating debris. I'll be in Havasu this weekend, so I can't make it to Castaic.

I'm not sure about the drive height or gear ratio, but we started out with a labbed Bravo 28p.

ARA have a look at where the prop shaft is in relation to the bottom of the 2 hulls with the drive level.
Do you know what RPM's you should be turning that motor?

Looks and SOUNDS great...!!! :p

Welcome to the walkthru bowrider world. From the little video I saw I am going to say your X is too low. I was thinking from a earllier post that motor was around 1000HP. If so and you are running 1.36 gears the 28" labbed should be too small.

The walkthru daytona does not react like other daytonas do without all of the extra weight this boat has. Trust me, been there and done that.

fastlane40 04-04-2008 04:11 PM

Yeah me too.The 28 should be on the limiter at about 1/3 throttle with the correct height.Hey Turbo tell me about yours.

2002 26 Daytona with walk thru bowrider, Bravo XY on standoff box, chev 540, CMI E tops, procharger M4, 10lbs of boost, Fast EFI, Hydromotive 5PX 29 or 30 lab bravo, & Rtech intercooler.

fastlane40 04-07-2008 02:07 AM

Hard to compare my X with yours because of your standoff. What HP,ratio and speeds?

Ara 04-07-2008 05:10 PM

Now I assume when you say X Dim. you are actually referring to prop shaft depth correct? What would make you say that mine is too low? The motor should be right around 900hp. Just by eyeballing it, the prop shaft does look pretty much level with the bottom of the sponsons. Just curious as to what you saw in the video that brought you to that conclusion.

Turbojack 04-07-2008 09:14 PM

Boat runs faster full of fuel or lots of people in back seat, due to weight of bowrider in the front. Motor is about 900 HP, never had it dynoed. Best speed was 108. Lower the prop 2", best of 98. If I was to pull out the 500 lbs of stuff my wife has to carry in might run faster

My prop shaft is 1/2" above the sponsons. Gear ratio is 1.36

In the video I did not see any rooster tail when you were running. When my boat was made I think I had the very first wall thru with the 26-27 bottom and Eliminator was concerned about getting the X to high.

I had another friend that had a 2001 model taking offand he had same problem with X being too low. He raised his 2" so it was even with lower sponsons and he also gained 10 mph.

I have no problem with blowout taking off. Only problem I have is I do not have a lot of torque taking off with the procharger and big prop.

Boat looks great! I hope to own a closed bow 27 one day.

What speeds are you hoping for with the quad 900?

fastlane40 04-08-2008 03:56 PM

ARA.I'm interested in how they setup your boat.I don't mean to be negative and hopefully will help you.I have exactly the same boat as you.I have 876 dynoed HP,1:27 ratio and my prop shaft was also level with the bottom of the sponsons. With this setup a Bravo 1 34 was too small. So there is no way you could use a 28 unless either you don't have 900 HP or your prop is too deep.I've tried every spacer depth and going deep kill's it.I am now getting close though.Keep me informed when you run it next. Carl.

So you guys don't have any planing or blowout issues with the open bow boats having the prop slightly above the bottom? Thinking about trying a -2 shorty lower, but I don't want to compromise planing.

Turbojack 04-30-2008 06:38 PM

I have no problem comming on plane. Only problem I have is big prop and low torque due to procharger at low rpm. Easy on drive tho.

Sorry to resurrect a long dead thread, but just saw one of 27' Daytonas up here near Lake Union. Nice boat and love the cat hull. I'm curious about something though, just for perspective. What is the fuel consumption per hour, at various given speeds of the 27' Daytona, and what is it's range?

Lake Union, wa? if so that was me with the red and white one. The fastest it has been with a 496ho is 82 runs 78 when it is full of crap, it holds a ton of fuel for a single dual 65 gallons tanks. There was also a few 28 daytons, 29 force, and a 29 dcb

Great pics....great looking 27... gelcoat kinda similar to a dcb F29 "Pegged" that came out several yrs ago... If anyone remembers.

Great 27!!!! thnx for the pics!!
