Default 26 Daytona, How Fast???

Just curious how fast one will run with a 496HO? Got a friend looking to move into one possibly, he's coming out of a 27' Fountain that runs 70 on the tattle tale and he's wanting something faster.

Any first hand experience would be a great help.

A good friend of mine just bought an 05 27 Daytona ICC with a new 496 mag ho and he is running just over 70 (72-74) mph.
It runs nice and gets on plane quick , just needs a bit more speed.

In contrast my 28 ICC w/ twin 496's will run over 100 mph - something to consider.

My 25 runs right around 70 with a 496. I want to repower it and I have only had it for a week and a half.

CheckedOut, are you running the HO or 375hp? I was told it would run 77 but i've got my doubts. Is that possible without adding say CMI's or Arizona Speed/Raylar stuff?

Wink

Sounds like some Raylar kit help needed here on a few of these threads? www.raylarengine.com

I am running the HO with a stock Bravo 1. There is a guy up here with one that says he has had his up to 82. I think he has an XR drive though. I have tried both a 28 and 26 non labbed props. I am currently running the 28 and it seems like a bit too much prop (4500 rpm max more or less) so I may take the 26 in to get labbed and make it a bit more agressive and see what happens.

CMI's will give it a couple mph. Like 3-5mph is the typical gain. I would then venture to say on the right day with the right conditions, it might hit 77 with the CMIs if it runs low 70s stock.

mine with a stock 500efi, bravo hp with 1.50 gears and a 28 stock bravo 4 blader ran 83 gps every day of the week. A 525 should be closer to 85-86 I woud think. I run a Black Hawk drive spinning 31's on it now and it will run just around 90. Soon, there will be a blown and injected 509 between the stringers and that should pick me up a couple more mph

The hull really just starts feeling "good" over 80.
