Default 1996 250 eagle depth guage install

I pulled out the old thru hull transducer today. Instead of being mounted on the flat pad, it was mounted just to the port side of it, or the first part of going up the V of the hull. I would think it should be on the pad. Is that wood that it will not transmit through it? I also found that the old transducer was siliconed down vs being epoxied. Thought that was strange. Any insight on the transducer install on this boat?

No, thru hull transducer. It epoxies to the inside usually under the motor to the bottom of the hull. It's called a thru hull due to it having to radiate through the hull of the boat.

I ended up calling Eliminator, they said to put it on the flat part of the pad. I'm gonna do some testing with it there before i glue it down and see what i get.
