I agree with jdnca1 on the props. His boat is very similiar to mine except that he has more power, more weight in the back and I have a windshield.

With that power, you should be ~105. I don't run labbed props becasue I have cracked a couple of regular Bravos and think the labbed props would crack easier.

I think you could run 30" or 32" Bravo Ones.

I never cracked a labbed maximus in 2 seasons on my 28..but only had 496HO's init.

However, I threw blades on 2 separate occassions with labbed maximus on my 36 w/625 Ilmor's...all within about 25 hours of use. Since going back to 4 blade stock props on my 36, I lost mid range, and some top end...but haven't thrown a blade in 40 hours of use (knock on wood).

So, I would concur...the higher your xdim and the more HP you have in front of a prop will increase the probability of a blade being thrown on a lab prop...more so than a stock prop.

I had to prioritize - running issue free became more important to me than a faster cruise speed and a bit more top end.

But that was my priority...and may not be consistent with others.

The ONLY reason to run a 5 blade on a 28 Daytona IMO is if you can't get on plane with a 4, are out of gear, or want to cruise ~10mph faster at the same rpm...you will loose whack (acceleration) every time when you go to more blades on this boat. I have never tried a maximus, but have spoken to several who have...I havn't found anyone that was happy with them on a 28....

I have significantly more power now and still run labbed 33 bravo's, just went to a 1.21 gear to make them work.

I liked my labbed 32's on my 28....for the reasons you state...popped out of the hole w/a full load and better cruising speed....but had a 1:36 ratio and only 496 HOs.

I have 4 blade 30's with 496 ho's on my 30. I couldnt imagine trying to spin 32 5 blades. didnt realize a 28 was that much lighter than a 30.
