Hi guys- some of us have expressed an interest in having a regatta of sorts for those of us willing and able to make it to a central midwest location- lets do it! I tried involving eliminator themselves but have no results to show for it so it's up to us. Several things to consider.
A Date- I propose either mid July or Mid August, I'd like to give everyone time to attend, do it before school starts, and I must admit I'm giving consideration to my Jeep racing schedule.
A Place- It would be nice if we picked a lake that offered waterfront accomodations and libation, perhaps a beach area where we can pull up and socialize (Worst case we'll raft). Grand in NE Oklahoma has all but the beaches, Loto just may be too rough and perhaps to far for many. Beaver is nice but no accomodations or libation. what about Eufala or Texoma? Any other suggestions? I suppose it would nice to pick a place that has enough room and small enough crowds to "play" a little.
Venue- Should we do this as an Eliminator only event or does it make sense for all of us to try to attend an existing poker run or something like that.
Thanks all for your thoughts and input.

I like date in August. My daughter turns 18 on July 28th. After that I am free.
I do not see a problem opening it up to other people besides eliminator boaters. The more the merrier.
As far as lakes. I do not have a clue about anything that far north. (anything pass Dallas is far north to me) I am planing to take my motor home so some RV park would be nice but not required. Loto is 750 miles, Grand lake is 560 miles. & texoma is 349 miles from my house. Havasu is 1384 miles so 750 would be a cake walk.
Just got done talking to wife & she said we would leave here thursday & come back monday.
I am ready to go to someplace!!! Lets hear from OSO members where we need to go.

Cattitude,
Great idea....LOTO has my vote as it's 485 miles there. The August date centered around the Lake Shootout (Aug.23-25) would be a great time to get together. Check it out at www.lakeshootout.com
I'm impartial about just Eliminators or everyone....doesn't matter to me!

I live in Indiana about 40 miles from Chicago and I also am interested in hooking up with other OSO members. I think that some of you might be a little more westerns than midwest, what do you call people from Michigan? They are about 30 miles away and I think of them also as Midwestern people, There is a lot of us OSO in MI., IL and IN- Im sure that we would look forward to hooking up also, Cant you find some place that would be convient for all of us? By the way, Im talking about all brands of Boats not just Eliminators, Remember we live in Skater Country!!
Anyway, Count me in!!

Hi guys,
Allthough I personally can't attend this yr (Had a blast last year), many OSO guys make the trek to LOTO for the shootout which is the weekend before Labor day (lakeshootout.com). This is a must do trip for any performance boater. last i knew Secret Agent man was going to compete with his boat. To run you do need a DOT helmet and Lifeline jacket.
The chop is real bad away from the shootout (Where did that bayliner go- oh there it is!)
In the mean time, I'm still up for something, maybe at Grand or Eufala- any takers? (Elim or all OSO)

Cattitude,
I already put a post in regarding this shoot-out, I would like to have as much information regarding this as I can get. I have never been to one and since it is in your back yard, I'm sure you know most of the answers to any questions that any of us have.Like where is a good place for us to stay? Ater towing that far, I would still like to have my boat to take home after the meet! The facts will show that there are more boats stolen from Las Vegas and Havasu than any where else. So I'm aware of some of the dos and don'ts at party time events, but It would help to Know where not to go,since I've never been there!!
I see that you said helmets were required, What else? Do they let you roll it over before you hit it??? I dont have B-Maxs..
any Infor would be appreciated, sorry to hear you wont be there, was looking forward to meeting you..

E219- I'd check the shootout site i posted and ask away in the general section. I only went once last year so i'm no expert.
I stayed at Compass Pointe which is midway between Party cove (not for kids or timid spouses) and the shootout, also close to Backwater Jacks which is a busy place (one of many I'm sure).
They have nice covered slips you can rent (new last year) The restaurant was the worlds slowest so keep that in mind.
The Shootout takes place in a 4 mile stretch of the river with a no wake zone. Spectator boats are on the south side only. It's a maze of parked boats out their so GPS/VHS/ cell phones are helpful to hook up with friends.
When you run, it's hurry up and wait- about 30-90 minutes in line to get your turn. 1 mile start to finish. No reward for elapsed time so baby it out of the whole and roll it on gentle, plenty of room to build speed. It was not well marked for a newby- I shut down way before the finish line playing it safe because i had already hit max speed and was unsure how much room i had. If you're serious about it, a lot of guys are watching time of day air temps, humidity etc to crank off the best speed. You'll have to dump your passengers and pick them up after the run. Need a kill lanyard too.
That's all I can think of off hand. Getting out in the main lake you'll probably take a few over the bow, it's actually kind of refreshing but not for the timid.
