Nice boat man. I've had my 25 eagle now going on 6 years. May be looking to upgrade to something a bit bigger with more of a V in the front to cut the weekend waters. It would be a couple of years yet though.

Curious what you have for power and your top speeds you've seen so far?

Stock 502 Mag EFI, 26 4 blade Bravo prop, IMCO lower unit. The Gaffrig GPS speedo went TU just before I bought it. The previous owner said it did 72 - 75 depending on how much weight was in it. That was at 2800' elevation. It could use a little more prop as it will hit the rev limiter ( 5100ish RPM) trimmed up and only 4 people in it.

The Active Thunder in the 2nd video was doing 70 - 72 when we caught up to it. We had 6 people and almost full tank so I think 75MPH at barely above sea level is pretty close to actual speed.

I hear you on wanting a little deeper V. We have been out a couple more times since that video and the water was alot rougher, no way I would go over 50 MPH with this boat in that kinda water. Would need kidney belts and lots of larger screws to re attach interior panels.

Cloud, what engine / drive package do you have and what have you seen for speeds?

Cloud, what engine / drive package do you have? GPS confirmed MPH?

Couple of short videos of the boat running on the trailer.

Verified speed with a tom tom last weekend, 67 MPH with drive all the way down ( no trim) and hit the rev limiter with minimal trim at 72 MPH. Had 4 people in the boat and 25 gallons of fuel. I would estimate crap / gear / people weight to be about 1K pounds. Need some advise, seems like the boat has more MPH in it but...it needs help out of the hole. At initial launch it hooks decently but thenthe prop cavitates until on plane. More people / weight seems to help get on plane and doesnt effect top end MPH??

It has K planes and they dont do much for getting on plane, prop still cavitates. The minimul speed to keep it on plane ia about 23 MPH. On one hand it could use a larger prop for top end to keep it off the rev limiter but then I would guess that the cavitation would be worse getting on plane?

Seems like it needs a drive spacer?

Anyone else have the same boat and engine / drive package that could give me some advise? I would like it to get on plane quicker and be able to utilize all of the HP from the stock 502 mag EFI 415HP.

I've got a slightly modded 502 mpi (dynoed at 468hp), with a bravo drive, and a BBlades 28P bravo 4 blade prop. Comes on plane easily with 1/2 throttle no matter the load. Tops out most any conditions at 78 mph @ 5,100rpm, livorsi gps. 80 mph if the stars are aligned....

Never had a 3-blade prop on it, so don't know what that would do. I would assume faster top end (couple mph maybe) , but not as good out of the hole.

Can stay on plane at about 2,300 rpms, approx. 23mph with no tabs pulling a skier or wakeboarder. Have had it as slow as 18mph pulling me on the wakeboard but the throttle has to be managed constantly to keep it on plane.

Cloud, how far below the transom is the center line of the prop shaft?

IIRC, mine is about 6 1/4" below. It has an IMCO lower unit, not sure if it's a shorty and didnt see any ID or part numbers on it.

I have no idea, i'd have to measure it.

IROCDave 07-25-2012 10:17 PM

If you get a chance I would really like to know that dimension. I think the prop is to high on my boat for all around use. Either it's the lower unit or raised X dimension from the start.
