Default My first Cat

had the 30 Daytona out on the weekend for my first ride after purchase and all I have to say is this boat handles great. I picked up on the steering quickly and the boat runs in a straight line at close to 100 nicely. I have the twin 500s and notice with the large drive ratio and 32 props, you can't drive this like a normal v- hull with stock power. I find I can only work my my up to 90-100. You can't just push the throtle and work the trim and watch it climb from 30 to 100. I would find one motor would try and power the other and tack would be 500 rpm off of each other. Is this normal? If I ease into throtles, tacks stay similar.

Very interesting....I have been noticing on mine the port motor seems to always lag behind about the same rpm as you are seeing until full throttle eventually both are the same...I did find some shavings in the port drive and am tearing into now which may possibly be causing it but maybe this is something usual on twin cats. I cannot find a valid reason for it unless a motor is actually down on power for one reason or another. But my more sluggish side is always port. As far as handling I have to agree. Seems once you hit about 70 or so everything tightens up and it really becomes a pleasure to drive. 30-50 mph the handling is quite different and takes some getting used to vs. a V.
