Default Eagle 380 questions

I acquired an 04 380 Eagle. It needs engines and drives. It looks like it had 496HOs in it and I'd like to put those engines back in it. I have searched a bit but most threads are about high strung race engine swaps. I want bump the key-and-go, not high strung carb motors with blowers you have to pump 10x at the dock to fire. No lope, no bs and the 496s seem like a good choice. I'd like to find a set of low hour take out engines and go from there. Whats the best place to start the search?

Also need windshields and a few interior parts.

setup, props etc. will be next......

Which boat did you buy?? Got any pics?
Look in swap shop or classifieds, you won't be happy with the 496s in the long run.....525s would be much better and get you into the 80-85mph range.

Yes motors and drives are in. Boat needs windshields and interior next then some touch up. The windshield price it tough to swallow but they kinda have the market cornered there.

Still need info on props, I got 496HO and swept back bravos 1.5:1 ratio. I was figuring 22-24p bravo1 wheels?

Im hoping it will get in the mid 70s with this setup.

Now that Summer is gone its time to tinker. I have stock drive height and 5 blade 30' pitch Maximus props. I have a couple characteristics I'm hoping to eliminate. At 90 it seems to hop and 95 it wants to chime. I can push through and it goes away after 100. Any suggestions?

I'm wondering about shorter lowers or a different prop. Plenty of Torque and it comes out of the hole very easily.

I appreciate your feedback.

I wish I could offer some advice, but mine has yet to hit the water
It WILL be done for Havasu this spring and hopefully do some water testing and engine tuning with GT over the winter.
I am starting with stock bravo 1's no boxes, and 32p 4 blades. Hoping to tickle 100 with 700+hp per side. I would think you would be MUCH faster with those engines.
What did you end up hitting for top speed? Does yours have the imco standoff boxes? Maybe the props are too deep like you suspect. BBlades says he has worked on some of these, I don't know if I believe that or not since there has only been like 16 of them ever made.
Keep us posted, hope to see you at Desert Storm

Mine has Merc standoff boxes, Teague Platinum Drives and 985HP each side. Top speed so far was 105 at 6100 rpm. I'm thinking the diameter of the prop is too large, and the pitch to small. It easily comes out of the hole at 2500 rpm, which is nice on the drives. I'm planning on going to Havasu in April as well. I'm thinking about talking to one of the dealers that does a prop exchange to find the best combination.

I had no idea that we own such a rare model from Eliminator.

When I was at Eliminator last spring, they told me that they started making them in 04 and made 1 or 2 per year since for a total of 15 or 16.
Alot of people like BBlades for prop exchange, but I have heard really good things about Cutting Edge Propellers as well and I think they are in Cali. like you.
