Cat vs. V
looking at a new/newer boat not necessarily eliminator, but thought is start here as they make both v and cat. looking for input want to be in the 30-35 ft range with twin outboards. how do the cats handle rough water vs the v's? looking at the active thunder 29 defiant vs m33r/32 thunder cat. open to others as well.... with a young family leaning to the AC, for a little more floor space and not to feel so poker run specific want to get to dinner fast for a mid week run,but yet grab the tube for the kids on the weekend.... and go...

Lots of variables, cats are great up to a point, and when it gets to ruff your done. I have a 26’ Daytona, on havasu, 99.9% of the time aok. If your in the ocean, you need bigger than 35’ for a cat. There are other things about them, I am ready to sell the Daytona to get a 28’-30’ deep V. Cats are all about speed, I’ve gotten old, I don’t need to or go 100+mph any more, my boat will, blast right past 110. I want to be able to step into a cabin, make a drink, reach my ****, ext....but that’s me. |
You mentioned A/C which means a cabin - That will narrow things down. Eliminator cats in the 28-33 range do offer a nice cabin which you could add a/c although you don't see many with O/B power.. The 29 Active Thunder would be a excellent choice for the V hull offerings with the outboard and large cockpit & cabin for the size.

Up to 2 footers cat will ride better than V. I won’t attempt to get on plane in 3 footers, can’t keep the prop in the water. |
Also wake on a 30ft cat will be half the size of 30ft V at 30mph. Big deal for skiers. |

If you’re talking about family, tubing, wakeboarding, etc. it seems the V would be the stronger choice. |
