Eric, I have had a 27 daytona for a few years. Heavy boat but it seems to be well made. Mine is an 89 model with 468 power and runs 83 on gps. I had 2 inch imco lowers and that really helped mine. The drives were too deep from the factory and the imco's really helped. I sold the boat to a buddy but it is at my shop, so if you have any specific questions let me know. What year is your hull and drives? I still own a cat but went to a 35 Jaguar. Doug

Hull is a 97, drives are standard. I water ski with this boat so I don't want to give up low speed handling, how did planing change with the 2" shorty's? I think this is the last year of this hull. I understand Eliminators made some boats in wisconsin that were made much lighter and had probs. with delamination. Mine was a California hull. thanks, Eric

I didn't personally drive it at 106. My uncle owned it at the time. He said the hull handled the speed great. the problem was that the turbos kept detonating and he had to lift.

Eric, I spun 30 pitch bravo's and the shorties didn't affect planning at all. When I purchased the boat I thought that this 27 would be the largest boat I would ever own, hence my screen name. Things change but I still like the 27, with the center pod slow speed handling is much better than with the full tunnel boats. Your boat looks great. Doug

Doug, I've got to purchase props, what do think the Hyd. 5 blades would do on this hull. I don't think the stern lift would help, what do you think? Eric

Eric, I ran bravo's. I think that the bow lift is more important on that hull, at least at speeds around 80. I have no experience with that hull much over that speed. The hull just starts packing air and feeling good over 70. I really liked the shorties on that hull because I didn't have to use as much trim. I have never tried 5 blades for that boat but I purchased a set of 5 blades for my Jag and really liked the acceleration and midrange. I had a tired motor so I didn't get to test top-end speeds. The bravo drives may suffer with five blades and big power. My boat now has #6 drives so that concern is minimized. I do like your project. Doug
