Mild Thunder, Looks like you did good with your buy of that boat. It's a Bill Farmer Excalibur Boat, which was two years before Wellcraft bought out Excalibur. Also that boat was priced around $ 55,000.00 in the last year or so. Good luck with your upgrades and enjoy.

Re: Hawk 39
The ebay boat went for 31,000. If it is as nice as they stated that was a really good deal. Any more pictures of these two boats?

Excalibur Hawk 40, First built late 1981 or 1982, 39 feet 3 or 4 inches long, 9 feet wide, have all been called Hawk 40. All early Hawks had a step pad at transom, in 1984 some had step pad some didn't. Most were built with regular glass but Kevlar was a option at around $ 8,000.00 more. There were at least 5 or 6 Hawks that I saw from 1982 till 1984 that were built with Kevlar, most had Speed Master # 3 drives. All the Chris Craft 39 Stingers are the same hull and deck design. Only they were built with chopper gun fiberglass layup. Not as nice as Excalibur's layup process. Bill Farmer Sarasota Fla. built the Excalibur boats. He and Reggie Fountain worked together in the late 1970s or early 80s with Farmers 32 foot boat, then Reggie built his 33 Executioner. After that never heard any more of them working together. Farmer built a 32, 38,and the 40 Hawk, also some smaller boats, he also built a open center console outboard I think it was 40 Foot with up to three outboards. In the fall of 1982 at Faro Blanco in the Fla. Keys I saw Bill with the first 42 Eagle boat, it had Merlin or Leyman Diesels, smoked like crazy and looked very slow but no doubt was good on fuel. There is some good information on the Hawk 40 on this site from last year. Now you know about as much as I do on the Hawk 40. I will post more on the Black Hawk in the picture later. Also I still have the original price sheet from Excalibur, will scan and post. Good luck with your new Hawk.

Re: Hawk 39
Mild Thunder, I'am not sure which letter in the hull number tells if it is Kevlar. But I think that was a one owner boat, my son talked to him a few years back when it first went up for sale. Do you have his phone number. I saw his name and home city on this site. He would know for sure. Also is there any cracks on the top deck at the base of windshield both sides. ??
