It is slow in here so here are some pics of me redoing the transom for a bravo set up. This is my first transom job but I will tell you it is pretty easy.I hope to have it gassed up next week. I only have 2 days a week to work on it. Any suggestions

Man those pics bring back some memories. One suggestion I can give is use some cardboard strips (about 3" wide) and a hot glue gun to make your template for the new transom. Here are some pics for motivation:D

excalibur82 01-28-2008 07:16 PM

Thanks I need it. I am going to get rid of my stelling and go with the lighting headers so my exhaust will exit under the rubrail now.SO ihave some patching and more painting to do.

What are you going to set your X at? The exhaust under the rubrail puts the pipes close to the water..better get some flaps. This is what mine looked like before.

excalibur82 01-28-2008 07:32 PM

18 inches what did you set yours at

jdub 01-28-2008 07:37 PM

18 also. Worked out great. But I had to go above the rubrail with my exhaust.

excalibur82 01-28-2008 07:41 PM

I am going to put them just under the rubrail it is too loud in the cockpit with the dry exhaust. I love the sound but if I have people in the back they need ear plugs it is f--king loud

jdub 01-28-2008 07:43 PM

I had dry also...loved it. Keep it high and tell them to wear the plugs. What power you running?

excalibur82 01-28-2008 07:45 PM

I was running 78-80 with the trs on the gps do you think I will pick up any speed . And did yours run better with the bravo. By the way I like the new graphics on it.

excalibur82 01-28-2008 07:46 PM

I have a 540 dynoed at 630hp.

jdub 01-28-2008 07:51 PM

I never ran it with the TRS. So I can't say. Best I saw was 81-82 GPS with 550 aprox. hp and Bravo. Hard to say if you will pick up any speed. You'll be losing a couple inches with the swap but I don't think thats enough to see a big difference. Maybe a couple mph. I'll be anxious to see though. I liked it better all white:D

jdub 01-28-2008 07:52 PM

630 with a higher X might give you more though:evilb: Where you running the 540 with the TRS?

excalibur82 01-28-2008 08:11 PM

Yes I was 78-80 with that engine. I figured that the bravo set up is about 250-300 pounds lighter and I don't have a trans any more witch robs hp so I,m hoping for 85-87. Also the X will be 1 inch higher.Do you boat in silver bay?

excalibur82 07-31-2009 09:46 AM

I'm going to paint it on tuesday and cut the hole on friday any suggestions on drive height.Thinking about 19 or 18.5 0n the x.

jdub 07-31-2009 10:49 AM

I thought you said you would have it glassed up next week when you first started! Just busting your balls. Looking good. I can say I set mine at 18 1/4" (if I remember correctly) and it was nice. Barely had to trim it up for max speed. Just a couple clicks. Maybe try 19" and space down if it doesn't perform well....

excalibur82 07-31-2009 12:16 PM

No it stays on the trailer in my driveway. I live at the edge of Toms River near the border of tomsriver, lakewood, and manchester area. Its considered pleasant plains. I have been to east dover marine once about 2 weeks ago with the boat. I stoped in to get some fuel additive. I lauch the boat at gilford park yatch club off rt37.
