I have a 1979 24 that I have done an extensive restoration on.
I put a plastic fuel tank made by Inca products. It is the exact dimensions as the original. The only difference is the fill is on the front of the plastic tank. The easiest way I found was to cut the floor along the inside of the stringers. I then filled and glassed the cockpit to the stringers. Then made a fuel tank lid that is removable that screws to aluminum angle. Worked out great and stiffened up the boat. Good luck!
