1985 excalibur wont charge

1985 excalibur wont charge
I put a new engine in the boat and now it wont charge. I assume I left something unhooked or hooked up wrong cant find a diagram for the alternator has a total of 4 wires going to it. black, orange, red, purple, if anyone has a diagram or can help out that would be great thanks.
