Question 40' excalibur copy info

www.offshoregroup,net

We are looking at possibly purchaseing a boat that is supposed to be a copy of a 40' excalibur. It is a 1978 40' Performer 4000. It is not a fast 'offshore' boat but rather an express style inboard boat. It only runs about 35 mph, but thats ok I still have a 30' formula with bbc. Anyway does anybody know of this company, or even were to get information on a real 40 excaliber. Any info, pic's,links etc. would be apprieciated.

Thanks

Herman

Fred,

Wow, really nice looking boat. Doesn't look anything like the one that i ended up buying though. Yours is an fast offshore, the one i bought is more like an express style deck(tall) with a 24 deg hull. i was told that it as an excaliber copy, the guy could be wrong. i liked it so i bought it anyway. It is still in Texas, untill the end of January, then we will bring it up to Canada. I have some pic's that i will try to post next week maybe someone or you will recognise it.

Thanks

Herman

ExcaliberHawk40,

It is at a storage yard in Texas City, that should be pretty close to you, yes? When we looked at the boat the owner said it we made by a company that copied the Wellcraft Excaliber. I could not find anything on the net, from the pictures that the owner had posted it looked like the style of boat that would appease my wife so I went to look at it, I still have my 302 formula. anyway if you go to seaquestmarine.net go into auction boats, it's the first one. There are a few pic's there. maybe you will recognize it? It is a project boat, but we've done worse. I am hoping to have a trailer ready around the end of January.

Herman check out this website. www.challengeroffshore.com Look at there 42 scv. The lines of that boat look kind of the same. I do not remember a Excalibur having the lines of your boat but anything is possible.
I believe that the 42 was built in MI and was called a Axiom
