I emailed Fountain Powerboats regarding my "X"dimension and extension boxes. After all Reggie designed the bottom that is on my boat (1984 Excalibur 31).
Martin Sanborn from Fountain was nice enough to reply. He said I could probably move my "x" up a little more than the 18.5 that I was planning, but not more than another inch. I'll probably go 19 inches on my "X", any higher than that and my exhaust would probably hit my hatch.
On my Excalibur since it has the pad bottom and notched transom, he recommended that I dont use stand off boxes due to the fact they usually don't see that much of a performance increase on Fountains WITH a Notched Transom.
I realize your boat does not have a notched transom and if I had your boat I would have added boxes too.
Between your results and what he told me, I'm allot more excited, and allot less worried.
Glad to see that you were able to get in the water! please bring your hand held GPS when you get the other drives on, and post results.
I should have some pictures worth posting in a few weeks.

How did or who did the fairing on your boat?....I sure would like to change my Hawk's winsheild into a fairing....got any pic's of that process?....Fred

Fred, there is a machinist/fabricator in Sarasota that used to make a lot of the parts for Wellcraft. He is a good friend and made the faring about 7 years ago for us. I will see if i can get ahold of him to see if he has specs or blueprints of some kind.

Matt,
I was curious what your input, and possibly Hawk40's input on repainting my rig. Both of your rigs really look great. Now that the engines are done, I am thinking of repainting the just the top side (white), and leaving the red hull and sides as is, I will compound wax and clean the sides up, for budget reasons. When I paint the deck white, should I also paint the faring white, or tint it dark black, I am going to leave the dash original, what do you guys think? Later I plan on going all red on the interior, and set it up to a more modern style.
