resins

I have a 2001 30' motion. I had a set of canopies made and want to install then this month but I'm not sure what type of resin to use. The boat is made with vinyl-ester resin. Would epoxy resin be better for the repairs? What is the purpose for waxed and un-waxed resins? Is it so you doen't have to grind between laminates? What type of bonding - fillers are there or do I make my own? I've done glass work before on my v-hull that I rolled after being cut off in a turn at the Gov. Cup in St. Pete. Fl. Think I'm still bitter? I'm pretty good at laminating and getting areas correct without using fillers. My old boat was a fun-disposable boat but this one is clean and I would like to keep it that way. Every one say's I should just buy a 30XP from Motion but I think it looks a flat deck with two bubbles glued on. Thats just my opion. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John

Just my 2 cents...

I'd want someone with alot of experience and engineering background working on this project. It would be bad neough if they just didn't afford you the protection you were expecting but if the setup failed, they would most likely add to the catastrophe.

I too would be cautious & think this out and consider having it professionally done. If done wrong & it breaks it could be a nasty guiotinne :hitfan:.. :) J

Funny, I didn't think this thread was asking for your opinion. It says Tech-Fiberglass and Paint. If you doen't have anything to offer that pertains to these questions, keep your two cents and add it to all your other two cents ( 5000+ posts ) and buy yourself a boat so you won't have something to say about everone else. Better yet,can you say G U N C O N T R O L !
Ps: Its people like you that give guns a bad name.
And you spelled enough wrong too.

WOW! LOL, based on your reply to good advice being offered regarding the proper safe install of crucial equipment, it appears you don't have the patience to tackle a job like this on your own.

Since we're correcting spelling, you spelled don't wrong when you were bashing Chris' spelling. Just my 2 cents!
