Default body shop resin vs vinlyester resin

Need to fil/gel several holes from old snaps, a few bolt holes from different mounting, and repair a scratch on the hull side approx 1' long that's only thru the gel.
Can the resin from Menards or auto body shops, such as Bondo or Everclear which I assume is a polyester resin, be used in these areas where I need to buildup the holes 1st before coating with gel? I'm wanting to make a paste with some cabisol filler for a couple of the holes and not sure if those resins are ok to make a paste, or best to order some vinlyester?

Also, do I use the wax agent with the resin, or leave it out so it's tacky giving the gel some bonding and putting the wax agent in the gel. Or just spray with the PVA coating?

Thanks

you can use that resin for small stuff and it will be fine. I wouldnt use it on anything structural but i'm sure you've already guessed that. I dont use any wax in fairing fillers but i suppose it wouldnt hurt to toss on the PVA though.

hehe . . . its Evercoat . . . not Everclear, thats the pure grain alcohol (that Racegirl drinks )

will it be a single color or are you doing some graphics? The 24/7 Excals are great boats, good rough water boat for their size.
