I was wondering the same thing.

Some old school guys swear by 'em, I find them difficult to control and heavy on material. A well set up (quality) gun in the right hands will be very efficient and you really should not need the volume of a pressure pot unless your spraying something like the Queen Mary . With my Tekna i can get down one hull side and half way down the other before i need to reload. I mix most stuff in volume in large 1 gal pitchers so reloading is quick. For metallic quality i think your still better off with a high quality professional gun, pressure pot are more for volume.

I occasionally use my 2qt pressure pot when doing large cat tunnels as they are great for completely inverted surfaces.

I still have my Devilbiss 7 gal pressure pot and gun- we have it on casters so that it follows us around, sorta. Used to paint airplanes with it. When shooting smaller jobs, we'd just set a gallon pail in the middle of the pot- the pickup tube would be in the center of the pot anyway- minimal cleanup! I never shot any metallics out of it other than stuff that was in a gallon pail in the middle as described before, and then there was only about a quart or so of paint in it. If we had needed to shoot alot of metallic material, there was some sort of air-powered agitator system that fit inside of the pot and attached to the lid with a shaft and a propeller on it to keep the flake from settling. Mostly shot aircraft butyrate dope and synthetic enamels (shot 'em hot and they flowed out like glass). Brings back memories....
