Ok, so no boat work got done today, but I did build this 4’ x 10’ workbench so when the time does come I’ve got a good place to lay out the plywood and coosa patterns, and someplace to cut out the glass. Waaaay better than being down on the floor the whole time!!
Got tomorrow off work too, so I’m hoping to be week into carving out the transom by this time tomorrow.

I got most of the transom core out today!
There’s just a little left in one one corner and at the very bottom.

Unfortunately I couldn’t work on the boat the last couple/few weeks. But I finally got back at it and the last couple days I got the first layer of transom core trimmed and fit. Then traced that onto two more pieces of 1/2” marine ply. I got the first two layers curing last night, there’s a layer of 24oz roving between them. I also filled the little cuts and dings in the transom with PB, and added a layer of 1.5oz mat.

Finally got the third layer of 1/2” marine ply bonding to the first two layers. There’s a layer of 24oz woven roving sandwiched between each layer of plywood.

Looking back, what I should have done is lay a full uncut piece of 24oz on the first two layers and applied the resin. Then trim it when it’s fully cured. I’ll have to fill a couple voids along the edges when it’s all done.

I got more grinding done today too.
I’ve got lots more to go, and I can already tell you that Grinding Fiberglass Sucks…

But I think the worst is done. There was a TON of tabbing around the knees!!

I was hoping to be done with grinding in the bilge area today. But my respirator filters must be clogged, cuz even with new pre-filters I could barely breathe. I had to get out of the boat every 5 minutes to breathe for another 5 minutes. And repeat.
But I’m almost there!
I just have these couple spots to touch up and then I’m going to get to fixing some weird spots like the one shown.
Once those couple spots are fixed and the perimeter of the transom is filleted, then I’m gonna build the knees!
