Well I did some painting this winter so I figured I would post some pics to report my progress. I wet sanded of the thick balck vinyl on the back and sides of the boat and It cam out quite well. I also painted the vents. hatches and horn with white krylon fusion paint and I think it looks 10 times better now. also the rubrail is now white. what you think?

Re: new pics
Looking sharp! What model is that? That plastic paint is some bad juju. I painted my engine vents white with it, and I couldn't get the paint off my fingers for two weeks.

Re: new pics
Looks nice.
I like the way the white rub rail looks. Hmmmm....Now you're giving me ideas. I like the basic color combo mine is but the black rub strip is just too much black. Something to think about. Question....could you measure the inside opening of your deck hatches? Mine didn't come with them installed and I'd like to put a pair on but don't know what size the originals were. I asked Formula about them but they refused to tell me because of liability concerns. |
Re: new pics
sure I will try to measure when I get home...I don't know what time it will be though...I will measure it from inside the cabin

Re: new pics
You painted the rub rail???? I like the white and was going to change mine to white but too much aggravation as I understand it's though bolted :( . What brand of paint and where 'd you get it??
|
Re: new pics
That's ok. No rush. Once I leave work I won't be back on-line until tomorrow anyway. But I appreciate you taking the time to look.
After Formula told me they couldn't tell me the size of the hatches I checked and found out why. The curent rules, new construction, dictate that the hatch must be large enough for an adult to climb through in an emergency. I doubt the original ones on the F-206 are that big. |
Re: new pics
mopower, yes I painted the rubrail I put alot of coats on it and it seems very strong, just use fenders and you'd be ok you can always touch it up anyway...
and iggy yes they are very small, they are just big enough for me to squeeze my head out of! |

Re: new pics
That's ok. Whenever you get a chance.
You're off tomorrow too? We get every other Friday off. Makes it nice to have a scheduled three day weekend. Even better when a Monday holiday falls on the same weekend. :evilb: |
Re: new pics
tahoeguy and outlaw,
How did you prep the rubrail prior to applying the Krylon? How did you prep the hatches? Sanded? Primer? The result looks great. Would like to do same to my 292, bring it up to more current looks. Thanks for the info in advance. |
Re: new pics
Looks Great. I've been thinking about painting the hatch's on my 357SR1. Did you paint the glass also?

Re: new pics
I just thoroughly cleaned the rub rail four times with "contac cement" cleaner. I have quite a few nicks and digs in the rub rail and would like to put a new white one one, but for now this works okay for me. The flat white also helps hide the "imperfections" better than the black did.
Same with the hatches and yes I painted the glass. Be sure to mask off the surrounding areas thoroughly, cause I got a little overspray on through the newspaper I used and that stuff is a bit(h to get off. If you're going to use newspaper, use at least four layers or two double pages, whatever. You do have to touch the rub rail up from time to time but it's not really too much hassle. More than worth it for the "new look" as far as I'm concerned. |
