Comes equipped with Bravo One XR drives (Std. or Sport Master). Six Drive models also available.
This is off of the Mercury Racing site and it is part of the Spec. sheet for the new 600sci. The way that I read it is that one can choose either the std. B1 or the B1 Sport Master, only the Six is an option. Am I reading this wrong, and would there any performance advantages between the two.

Only advantage to Sportmaster lowers on a sub 100mph vee is that they look kinda cool.Actually slow the boat down a little cause of the large skegs. The trick is to trim the skegs( I have a template somewhere) But as a dealer selling a new boat I can't do that cause of warranty considerations. Our 04 Poker Run 382 would be a little faster if the skegs were cut,but it's no big deal,it's a 79 mph GPS floating condo, and you can't watch the TV much faster than that
The 382 is all about amenities and comfort.Right Troutly?

I know that this boat handles very well to begin with but would there not be a handling advantage at that speed with the two inch longer skeg, worth the speed difference. I know it is all about speed but, what kind off numbers are we talking about loosing .5, 1mph or more???
It seems like the more fliud design on the lower unit would off-set the drag of the longer skeg. Then there is the re-sale, you know when it is that time, the kinda cool factor is worth $$$$ and if you can get it up front for no additional $$$ then it is worth even more.
That Flash boat looks like it is going 90 sitting still, or;; maybe it is just me.

When they tested were they in a 353/600 and were they running the Std. Sport Master orthe Short Sport Master. With the Shorty I could understand that, but with the Std. Sport Master being the same length as the Std. XR drive and designed for high speeds and low water pick-ups,, something was wrong.

Don't know the specifics of the testing, but I do know that in APBA Factory 2 class racing, when the 525's were approved to run with the 500's,to insure equality the 525's were required to run Sportmasters to slow them down, while the 500's were allowed to run XR's. Robert
