Still looking for a 353
I'm still searching for a 97-00 353. I can't seem to find any decent fresh water boats at a decent price. There's a few saltwater boats out there but I think I'll stay away from them. Were the 1997's any different than the 98's and up ?

Re: Still looking for a 353
Hey man, with all that OT you've been sucking up, you can just go buy a new one :D
|
Re: Still looking for a 353
ThirdBird,
How can you have time to be surfing when you have a plant to put back together? All this O/T will go for gas this year. But I am putting the 271 up for sale if you know of anybody looking for one. |

Re: Still looking for a 353
There was no '97 353 build.
Mines always for sale. :D I'll keep an eye out. This time of year the 90K boats are a 100K. |
Re: Still looking for a 353
Add Me to the List... Looking for a 35 as well. Decided to come out of the closet. Need more room. Listed the 303 on Boat Trader and here on the classifieds. REAL CLEAN... Ask Ripem or Third, they'll tell ya!
http://www.offshoreonly.com/esvon/page-5248.html Kinda have my heart set on that new 353 Roberts been testing! |

Just kidding Senator. :drink: To everyone else: Axa's boat is in fact one of the nicest, cleanest Formulas of ANY year you will find. He is meticulous with his boat, almost to the point of Rippem's obsession with tidiness :D These two have "cleaning competitions" in the boathouse. They're docked-up stern-to-stern and when one cleans something, the other cleans something else. It's actually kind of pathetic. Can't get these two out of the boathouse 'till like 2pm. I just love it when the spiders crap on their decks :D :p |
Re: Still looking for a 353
Why don't you both move up to 336's. I have a 336 and rode in a new 353 at the Miami Boat Show. The 336 has the same cockpit space and MORE headrom in the cabin. A nice used 336 is in the 60K range compared to a used 353 in the 90k to 120k range and a new 353 at 280k. Find a used 336 and add hydraulic steering and upgraded motors and go almost as fast as a new 353 but with a LOT less invested.
|
Re: Still looking for a 353
powerguy,
I agree with you to a point. Used 353's are starting fall into the 80-90k range. The 336 is a nice boat but it's still not a stepped hull and it still has the old black cockpit. Yes it is bigger in the cabin. By the time you upgrade motors and steering you'll be at the price of a used 353. |
Re: Still looking for a 353 or something close
I might have my 99 271 sold so I need to find another boat soon. I have looked at everything from 311's to 353's but still haven't found the "right" boat yet. Anybody know of anything in this size range out there? I'll consider 311, 336, 357 or 353's. I have checked boattrader and the classified's here daily. With the old boat sold I'll have cash to work when the right one comes along. :D

Re: Still looking for a 353
Working on a trade deal on a 98 I sold new,all freshwater,500 HP carbs
with 5# boost Prochargers,Stellings Boxes, supposed to be a 97MPH boat but can't verify that. Haven't seen it in a couple years but will check it soon. If I get it I will post it. Robert |
Re: Still looking for a 353
I bought a 98 312 this winter and already itching for a 353. With 3 little boys I really need the sep. head compartment. Add me to the list of potentials. My wife and I LOVE the 2002 you sold recently but I'm sure that one was out of my price range.

Re: Still looking for a 353
I'm still looking for a 353 or possibly a 382. Does anybody know anything about the 1995 382 with 500's listed in the classifieds? Let me know, summer is going by fast.
|
Re: Still looking for a 353
Magicfloat has that 353 with 500's and Prochargers on his website he was talking about in June.....95K asking, check it out
|
Re: Still looking for a 353

Re: Still looking for a 353
causin trouble,
I looked at the 99 353 on Monroeville's website. Asking price is 119,900, that is outside my price range. I'm trying to stay below 80k. I know I probably won't find a newer 353 for that amount. Does anybody know anything about the 95 382 in the classifieds? I'll look at anything from a 311 to a 382 early to late 90's. |

If you want to save a bunch and get something bigger and a few years older - check out my 357 in Swap Shop. I love her but I want a Fastech and I want it now. http://www.offshoreonly.com/classif...2&cat=25&page=1 Now, on those 353s for under $80,000. Where do I find one of those??? :-) Brent |
Re: Still looking for a 353
bford1,
You can find some 353's in the 80-90k range, although some of them are saltwater boats. I haven't seen any under 80k. |
Re: Still looking for a 353
I have not seen a 353 below 80K ...not listed for sure ....
|
Re: Still looking for a 353
I listed the procharged boat for a friend at 95K but you might be surprised at what he would sell it for. No commision for me,just a favor for a friend. I will give a SERIOUS buyer his phone #,but be ready to buy before you call.
|
Re: Still looking for a 353
The ones I've seen listed under 90k all seem to be saltwater boats. I guess that would be okay if they were well cared for.
There seem to be a lot of people shopping for 353s now but not many seem to be moving. I would be really serious about buying now except that really need to get rid of my 357 first. Who knows maybe I'll just keep her. |

Re: Still looking for a 353
It also turns out to be a 1999,not a 98. He had both, just forgot which one this was. :p
|
Re: Still looking for a 353
Sounds like a great deal. I wish my 357 was already sold and I'd go see it. Unfortunately, I have been too busy to actively try to sell the 357.
|
Re: Still looking for a 353
Magicfloat,
Can you give me some more details on the 99 353? How many hours, salt or fresh water etc. I'm a little leary of buying procharged motors that I know nothing about. |
Re: Still looking for a 353
Turns out it is a 98 as I originally listed it,but I'm pretty sure it sold yesterday, owner promised to hold it till Monday for the buyer. If it changes I will post. Robert

Re: Still looking for a 353
I finally sold my 271. Where are all the deals? I'll look at anything from a 311 to a 382 1990 to 1999. I have cash now and I'm ready to buy. :D

Re: Still looking for a 353
Have the 1993 Formula 336 available that I had contacted you about.

Re: Still looking for a 353
too bad you couldn't reach for mine...it's a beautiful piece
came back from Kingston mid-afternoon Sunday into a small craft advisory, it was ONE BIG WASHING MACHINE the 353 works very well, making a steady 35-40 MPH in rough beam/quartering conditions, and doing it on ~25 GPH combined at 3-3500 RPM! That's a 4-5 hour range with reserve! I will say this boat does fantastic economy from 3-4000 RPM. After 155 hours and with fuel flow instruments on the last two boats, I can say that with authority. the 353 is manueverable, soft, with very few unavoidable "hits" in those conditions...you gotta drive it around of course, and work the tabs to the wind and waves a bit. the boat was loaded with more than enough chit  for the 4 days we were out, ( a whole bag of shoes ???) and very little of it even moved Left Kingston into/quartering REAL 5' + man was it piling up there! almost turned back to K-town, as much more wave hieght would have been dangerous even in a 35' if you lost an engine ect., it was getting to the point where you couldn't go fast enough to be manueverable, plus we were getting wet. I was almost behind Amherst, so we pressed on. Tucked into "Kerr Bay" (very nice BTW) midway the back of the island to regroup, eat, swim, and wait out the calming afternoon forecast for a couple more hours. I continued down the back and around the west end of Amherst, and straight across to Main Duck for a break. Shortest route between safe harbors, and out farther from the mouth of the river for some advantage in conditions. Think safety...Captain. I tell this story as formula 271 boats Lake Ontario and no doubt knows what I'm saying about anywhere east of Stony Point after winds like the 15-25 mph ones that blew all Sat. night and Sun. Da'Bird knows also. it does everything well for it's size. Great boat! EDIT: and the bluesfest... WOW what a great time! Great people! 3 for 3 3 nights...3 AM :drink: blues everywhere. afternoon and evening shows on the waterfront, bars at 10. 14 bars with live blues Fri. night. saw some excellent acts! Really digging "Raul and the Bigtime" from Toronto, they are flippin' famtastic! 7 Canadian bucks for everyshow/everywhere all week, no cover charges at all. more Tangueray money. :evilb: |
