wow, pretty intensive analysis going on there. Some of those pics tell a less than stellar QC story. The boat obviously split at the step, and/or pulled the hull/deck joint, probably simultaneously from structure loading.

How much of the damage shown was the result of salvage?

I'll search, but do you know the thread with the tidbits spoken?

Man,, That is one nasty looking hulk. There's hardly a section on it that isn't broken, cracked, torn or bent.

Hope everyone was OK, wouldn't surprise me if they weren't.

Don't much like how that deck-to-hull joint split wide open. I've always thought the glass would give before the joint. Gotta wonder if that joint was glued, doesn't look it.

the blue chit is plexus I believe. Properly set, stronger than the parts it mates. In a couple of pics you can see 'glass stuck to it (as in the glass ripped apart before the plexus joint failed)...but in most pics the glass appears to have come off the plexus clean...not good

Notice the infrequent and varying (wide) distances between screws through the hull/deck joint, and the pointed out minimum of backer plates. :eek:

I'm sure alot was learned from the failure analysis. I wonder if Formula sponsored this or the litigating laywers?

Or both seperately and independently?

No, but you can be sure they did their own thorough investigation. In any case they would have to have access to the boat and the "sawed out" evidence of structural failure.

You would think they would want it first.

My bet is they had somebody on the scene "quick like a bunny".

I wonder if Formula accepted responsibility for this. Wonder if they gave the guy a new boat. That one sure wasn't repairable and who'd want it after it was repaired anyway?

However, I can't believe this boat just "came apart". I know you probably used that phrase in general terms, right Trout?

Looks like the thing barrel-rolled to me. Of course, like Rip said, much of the damage we see may have been from salvage opertations.

Wow, I assure you my 419 looks nothing like that. I hope all on board were ok. Did they hit something, or what. My 419 is an absolute crusher, I love it. But it is 4 sale to make room for a new Skater.
