Extended Swim Platform 400ss

Does anyone have an extended swim platform on a 400ss? Or has anyone seen one with it on?

Since I full of questions, I imagine that I can purchase one from Formula and attach it to my 400ss. Any likes or dislikes about extended swim platforms?

Magicfloat can I purchase one from you?

Re: Extended Swim Platform 400ss

Only the 05's can have the extended platform added. Many changes were made to enable the addition. Older models do not have the proper reinforcement, etc. for the platform. As far as likes or dislikes,I personally do not like the extended platform. Not only is it not needed,IMHO,it is also ugly, and a bolt-on,and you all know my opinion of bolt-ons :p . Enjoy your 400SS with the real platform, extra appendenges are not needed.

Sorry to be late to the thread- but I have been out since memorial day running around smith point in the chesapeake with my 05 400SS with extended swim platfoorm.

Heres the results on my impromtu survey:

Spouse thinks its stupid cause of the caulk like seal between the standard and the extended making it look like an addon

Visitors think its a great dive platform when anchored for swimming

I think I like it as a wave breaker in the bay and a good dock for dinghys and allows 2 folks to be out on the platform area when fueliing or preparing to depart or dock.

What year is your 400SS?

Re: Extended Swim Platform 400ss

The 06's are different,it is standard, and is more like an overlay, looks pretty cool and not so much a bolt on. Should be pics on the Formula website. Not sure what it would take for an existing boat, but might work.

Re: Extended Swim Platform 400ss

My dad's 400SS has the entended platform. Like is said above it is not really necessary. But, I love it. You could throw a huge party on the platform alone. He has his on a 20,000 lbs lift and backs it in. You can partially lower the boat and literally roll a cooler from the dock onto the swim platform. On such a bog boat I don't think it looks out of place either. Next time I am on it I will take some pics.

Re: Extended Swim Platform 400ss

A good friend of mine just purchased a '02 40 SS and wants to install the extended platform on, I actually printed this thread out last week and gave it to him (he is not on OSO).... I have a 33 Concept and know who is who on the owners forum in the Concept section, respectfully I read Magicfloat are you a Formula dealer?? My friend (Kent) would like to purchase a platform and I'm going to OSO to help him. Art Lilly and Kent have gone over the job and are doing a template and are convinved they can mold one on?? Any suggestions or pricing would help if you can??
Thanks, Patrick Dolan

I have a 04 370SS and the guy next to me has 400SS and they look good without them. Better check if putting on aftermarket equipment will do anything to the warranty.

Can anyone provide any new updates here?

Considering doing this to an 04 400ss with the captains call exhaust.

There is the one that bolts in and onto the back, actually looking like a whole separate platform (but getting you lower and closer to the water) and then there is the one that is an overlay and just extends the factory platform.

Any suggestions? I am 100% going to go with one of them, so need to know what anyone thinks.

Thanks!!

mroberts, Hang in here for a bit. Spicy, the guy who posted about his friend thinking about doing it will be by sooner or later to comment.

Spicy actually ended up getting his own 400ss, along with the guy, Kent, who was thinking about getting one, and another friend of ours who also bought a 400ss. All 3 ended up adding the extended platform to 3 different year 400ss's. So he is definitely qualified to give you most any info you need about adding a swim platform to a 400ss.

I have been looking into the extended platform for our 04 400ss and have talked to the factory. You can purchase the factory platform part number 25204 TAG through Formula at a retail price of $5,104 or buy from a dealer and maybe they can work with you on the price. The platform comes with the swim ladder and door I can't recall if that includes the grab handle.

I had one of these on our 300 Sundancer. It was well made and installed easily. Just thought I'd through another option to the factory piece out there for you.

macjazzy 10-23-2010 07:55 AM

In the pics Spicy posted it doesn't look like it adds that much, but I can assure you in pratical use it adds a bunch of uasable space, both at a raftup or just stepping on and off the boat at the dock.
I have a 330ss with the extended platform, Formula only lists it as being 18" long, but it makes a huge difference on my boat.

Well, I got the overlay platform today.

It arrived in a crate of sorts at my installer's shop. He hasn't unpacked it yet, as we will take to the lake together in a few weeks to work on beginning the install.

Without unpacking it, I am not sure what all the install will actually require. I got the attached pic from Formula. It looks like 4 holes will be drilled, but outside of that, I am not sure.

My installer offered me a very competitive price on the platform itself. I guess we will see about install when we get to that point.

If anyone has installed this or has any recommendations, I would love to hear them. If you are interested in maybe ordering the platform for your boat, at a great price, shoot me a PM.

I like it. How hard was the install?

I see that you had Waves and Wheels do your stereo, or at least you got the pods from them.

Have any close up photos? Any likes, dislikes?

What about the pods on the underneath of the radar arch, do you feel like they get in the way? I can't decide exactly what or where I am going to do with my stereo on the boat.

I'm about to add a factory supplied swim platform extension to my 2000 400SS. Any suggestions about measuring the drill holes or glueing it down. Even caulking suggestions please.

Neil7 05-09-2017 12:38 PM

I have the factory swim platform extension for my 2000 and I'm looking for advice on marking the bolt holes. Also, did you grind the non-skid before cleaning and glue-ing? How about caulking the edge? Thanks.

Rheeder218 05-10-2017 09:31 AM

when did you order this platform?
