Default 2000 400ss with Volvo power

Anyone have any coments on this powerplant, my buddy is looking at a fresh water 400ss with 200hrs, I dont know much about the volvo drives and or power. Anything to look for.

My previous boat had Volvo equipment. I think it's better made than Merc. Mercury is like McDonalds....their product isn't as good, but they do an excellent job in advertising.

IMHO , Volvo is better but doesn't offer as many performance options as Merc. They're both GM engines

I run nothing but Volvos for those very reasons. Both Mercury and Volvo start off with the sam basic GM Powertrain marinized engine, then install the accessories and drives as they see fit. Mercury is flashier, but you have to ask if the sizzle is more important thah the steak. Volvo's DuoProp (DP-S) drives are a bit stronger than Bravo's and far, far less prone to corrosion than the infamous Bravo III drives.
