Stangjeeper, I hope you've looked into insurance costs before you get serious on a cat. A buddy of mine has a 30' Eliminator w/500hps - all stock, no mods. His insurance runs over $4K per year with a $7500 deductible if he hits something in the water and a $22,500 deductible on theft! I would really love to have one but that's like paying another note on just insurance. And, Lord knows, don't get one with big power - you might not find anyone to write a policy at all. I'll stick with my big V-bottoms. I might not get therefirst but I'll have plenty money left over forbeer and gas!

Yeah Ive done some price shopping. one of the issues is the overall price of the boat the other is the rated speed. according to my current agent my insurance agent one thats under 75K and rated at less than 80mph wont be too bad. but anything in the 80K plus range and over 85mph will run big money to insure. Im not looking for the speed but more the ride in a smaller boat.

SOLD THE 303 YESTERDAY!!!

Moving on to a Mastercraft ski boat(v-drive)
Great boat for our family, I'm really looking forward to it.
Should be easy of fuel (single 350) and insurance only costs
$318.00 per year! Plus we all love to ski!

I figured it out and the cost of ownership with the Formula including insurance, gas, repairs/maint., and depreciation over the last 3 years was $229 per hour to run. ( I only put about 100 hours on it in the last 3 years.)

Don't get me wrong, it was a fun boat to have, but it doesn't suit our needs any longer.

STANGJEEPER,

If you're not concerned with speed, look into an express cruiser like the super sport series or a Formula PC. I'm sure the insurance cost would be far cheaper than a Fastec.

Congrats with with the new boat, yes a single 350 should be easy on gas compared to twin BBCs. Have a great time with your new boat

Congrats on the sale! I have a Fresh Water 303 Formula that is listed in the classifieds as well on Lake Cumberland, KY. If anyone is interested let me know. It is in excellent shape and we will miss her.

I need to downsize in boat to an open bow. I like the idea of an open bow cat from Eliminator (25 Daytona) with mercruiser power. I wish Formula made one.

I am too young to go slow.
