Default Shakedown cruise successful!!

Finished wrenching at noon on Sunday. Boat in the water by 1:30. Rebuilds are done and everything appears to be working fine. Engines have more snap, a lot crisper on the throttles.

Our last round of work went from a bare, machine shop finished block on Thursday night to fully installed and running by Sunday at noon. 90 degrees all three days, hotter than hell working on that boat. Also tore the "good" engine back down partially to install cam thrust buttons. Axial cam shaft drift destroyed the cam in the starboard engine two weeks ago. Took no chances on the other one. Zoomed in both engines with the cam buttons to .020" total axial movement.

This project has kicked my a$$ and I'm glad (and I hope) it's over. I'll need a few more weekends with no issues to get my confidence up but I think it's all good.

For all you river-rats up in the Bay, we'll be up soon.

Xclnt news!!! Thursday we go into OIM, we'll have to get together over the weekend. Maybe see if the River Rats will poke their 35 foot noses and beaks out of the river and come see us in the pond. My weekend was spent at high school graduations and associated parties

No problem , God knows I've had plenty of shakedowns...not all good either
I've been fighting a problem with one engine all season and the problem was the other engine . The left was running slow so I've been trouble shooting the left engine for the past month. Turns out the coupler on the right engine has been slipping causing that one to run fast. Well you don't fix something that runs too good do you

Hmmmm, couplers,,,,,,,,,,, Looked mine over while they were off and I said to myself, "Self, you ought to change those out before they go south". However, budget constraints and time issues made me take the gamble. I hope they hold up for a while. I'm gonna kick myself right in the a$$ when one of 'em spins out. I'm just going to take the "don't think about it" attitude for now.

Like Outlaw said, I've got lots of wax-on, wax-off to do. Took Julie and I a couple of hours just to get the dirty, greasy hand prints off everything. Came out nice though, no lasting nasty spots.

Why are ya spendin' time gettin' greasy handprints off Julie, shouldn't the boat be the priority right now? Wax on , wax off! How's the inlet to the pond this year? Can we expect to see you there over the weekend?

A thorough examination of mine looked good too .
Splines were nice...no rubber hanging out the edges.
Oh well , hope you have better luck.
Mine should be here by 10:30am Fedex , then it's off to work again. (sunny , hot , humid and no shade till about 3pm)
