I have an 86 357 that I pull with a 96 F250 turbo diesel dually. It's the extended cab and 8ft bed and with that wheelbase I have no problem. I have a fastload trailer, tripple axle. With full tank I would estimate the weight near 12,000 lbs. This rig does not break any speed records (and I wouldn;t want it to) but very comfortably pulls it.

I've got an 86 SR357 also. The sales literature I got with the boat says base weight is 8960 lbs. Add any "stuff" and fule/water and it's reasonable to say 9500 to 10,000 for boat alone. The Myco is a heavy trailer so 12,000 gross is probably on the low end of the scale.

The pubs say something like an F350 is minimum but it was amazing what I saw people using at Sarasota to pull some BIG boats.

I tried a Suuburban 2500 and I wasn't at all comfortable towing my boat with that rig. I toed it across town and decided it wasn't enought rig to tow the boat to Tampa from here--120 miles.

By reading the lititure I asumed around 12,000 loaded. I was way off. I wieghed my 93' 357 last weekend. Full of water and fuel, Eagle tripple axle she came in at 14,634. The tongue wieght was 1450. When hooked on the Chevy 3500 it appeared that there was way tomuch tongue wieght. She seems to squat about 4.5 inches from level. I guess they say 10% of total wieght is what your tongue wieght should be. As far as towing, more HP than 6.5 diesel can put out would be nice although much better than the 350 gasser that I used last year.

Boomer35,
It's been a long time, but I THINK my 357 on a Myco was 42 feet from prop to tongue, with Kaama drives. As far as what I towed it with, check out page 4 post 77 on the show pic of your formula thread. It wasn't fun, those are 38's on the truck.

I couldn't believe the difference towing my 302 with my new F350 was over my old 2002 F250. It was like night and day.

Boomer, 42' includes truck and trailer. I pulled mine 700 miles with a 99 F250. No problems. My Duramax pulled even better.(More HP's) You will be fine as long as the trailer is adjusted correctly. Your 2500HD will pull it fine just have to make stops for gas.
