Exhaust discharge.
#1
I went down to my boat (242) at the weekend just to check her over as she hasnt been used for 4 weeks.
Everything was in order until i fired her up. I walked to the back of the boat where i always observe the cooling water as it exits the silent thunder tips and noticed the following; There appeared to be a cloud of something exiting the starboard tip into the water combined with steam or smoke. The engine did not sound any different from normal and appeared to run ok, except from the steam or smoke and murky discharge from the exhaust tip.
I am pulling her out of the water for the winter in a couple of weeks time and wondered if any members here could give me some pointers as to what has happened. Im hoping its the exhaust headers corroded and nothing more though i had been thinking about a re-power to a 496HO.
Any help most welcome.

Last season I had milky discharge for the starboard engine exhaust. I was also losing power steering fluid (with no visible leaks). Turned out to be my P.S. cooler leaking internally. Since the PS pressure was greater than the water pressure , I had oil in the water not water in the oil. Just a thought.
