382 with flat panel TV

I would like to install a flat panel TV in my 1998 382 Fastech. The boat was not ordered with a TV. I am looking for some close up pictures of how the factory installs the flat panels.
I will probably never watch it, but the Cigarette boys will be ever more pissed off when I blow by them with my water condo while my wife is watching TV down below. Thanks in advance. Jeff

Re: 382 with flat panel TV

I installed a flat panel 19" monitor/tv on my 357SR1. I used a flip-up mount but I'm going to change over to a tilt/swivel arm thing. CHeck out www.Tigerdirect.com --they've got great options on montirs and mounts at really good prices.

The monitor I got is a 19" tv (with tuner and built-in speakers) and a computer monitr and it was around $700 a fw years ago--they are cheaper now. It will run in 12v and 120V. Also got a 12v DVD and VCR.
Now I think I'd et one of those iPod video's and put movies on that and play them thru the TV.

Have fun--lots of really cool options.

I'm installing a slightly wider TV/DVD in my 2000 382, but here is the factory installation straight from Decatur, IN:

Looks like a very secure mounting system they are doing, Top notch all the way.

Re: 382 with flat panel TV

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know what make and model the TV is ? Has anyone had trouble with this type of TV on a boat like this and does the cabinet support the TV securely ?
Chris, I am sending the props out to be labbed to make up for the extra weight. Jeff

I am also considering replacing the original Kenwood stereo with one that will play mp3's and dvd's and tie it in with the TV. Their are two that caught my eye, Blaupunkt Hollywood dvd35 and Long Beach dvd35. The one concern I have is do they have a remote that can be fix mounted to the dash ?

The factory TV is a Sharp. If you look around, you might be able to figure out which model it is. Formula told me that they have only had to replace one or two so far. I think that they've been putting them in for 3 years now... The factory DVD player is a Blaupunkt. I found a 15" flat TV/DVD on ebay for $305, but won't have it in until the spring. I'll let you know how it lives in a few years.

There are more of these on ebay right now for good prices:15" TV/DVD on Ebay

Dude you could put this 51" in there and I still couldn't go as fast as your old man boat. :D
