Formula F-311 SR1
As some of you know, I sold my 22-foot bowrider and I am looking for a 30-foot "wave crusher". It doesn't need to be the fastest both on the water, but I need three things...
1) A smooth ride from the ramp to the party cove 2) The ability to write it off as a "house" 3) Plenty of room for sex :evilb: The Formula F-311 SR1 looks like a boat that will fit the bill. Opinions? |
Re: Formula F-311 SR1
The repeat # at leaste 5 or six times..........
List is oposite of real requirements!!!! :D:D |
Re: Formula F-311 SR1
You are definatly on the right track there Clay
|
Re: Formula F-311 SR1
I like them. Nice lines, and big enough to run rough water in, but not so big it's a pain in the ass to launch, dock, and anything else. I've never heard anyone say they didn't like their 311.

Re: Formula F-311 SR1
Hey Clay you talking about the party cove at lake of the Ozarks? The crowd loves my 357. There is a nice 311 for sale at glencove marine in lake of the ozarks.

Clay-
I have one for sale that is an orignal. http://www.offshoreonly.com/esvon/page-7923.html It needs a good home! Don |
Re: Formula F-311 SR1
I love mine. It would definitely fit your bill and even has a couch area aft of the v-berth so the on-deck Claymates can lounge while they wait their turn. :D
Velocity Mike is selling his too, decent shape mechanically, needs a little cosmetic TLC. 454's and TRS's. Will go for a good price. |

Re: Formula F-311 SR1
I love my 89' 311. Best boat in rough water for it's size I've ever been in. And it's a true 31 feet, the bolt on patforms are NOT included in the LOA.

Re: Formula F-311 SR1
Just traded for a 1988 from the original owner, supposed to be really nice.I've always thought the 311 was one of Formula's absolute best models. There are still some nice ones out there.

BIG FAST ROOMY LOUD RED & BLOWN
Hi Clay -
Before you buy a 311 you should take a look at my 357. Big, fast, loud, red and blown. There's room in the cabin of this thing for about 10 Claymates. Bob Loyd knows my boat well. In fact, your recomendation was one of the reasons I started using Bob. He just put fresh superchargers on it last season and he's done all the work on my boat for the last couple of years. You may have seen and/or heard me out at Devil's cove or around Travis. It looks and runs great. It does need a few things so I do't have it listed for sale right now. But, I would sell it as is seriously, seriously cheap. There are a few pics at this thread here: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=102857 I keep the boat in a building in San Antonio. If you're interested send me a message. I have a bunch more pics if you want to see. Brent |
Re: Formula F-311 SR1
Older Formulas are nice and will fit all three of your criterias,,as far as space goes, I had an 89 272sr that was roomy enough to put my 02 292 Fastech in the cockpit of(slight exaggeration) but difinately roomier than the newer birds..

Re: Formula F-311 SR1
Clay- my '89 311 is a bus in the rough and will run at speed in most of what LOTO can throw it it which is more than I can say for some "faster" boats. I have mild cam / head / intake / carb work on 454's and am happy enough. Of course, I want a FasTech . . . . and a Sunseeker and a and a and a and a

Re: Formula F-311 SR1
Clay,
Have 1996 303 w/ 454 mags avail. and also have 1995 336 SR1 w/450hps. Both boats CLEAN. let me know if interested. |
Re: Formula F-311 SR1
To everyone... I am very interested! :p
I have gone back and forth on what I think I want and need. I was looking at 34+ foot wave-crushers, but decided that they were too big and too heavy. But... I went to the Austin Boat Show yesterday and found some 28-foot "wet slips" for $1830/year. I was told I could park a 35-foot boat in them! So, now Brent's 35-foot monster and other big boats are back! :D Please send pics, specs, and your "bottom dollar" price to: [email protected] Thanks! |
Re: Formula F-311 SR1
Clay, Could you maybe give us an idea of the price range you are looking to be in?? you mentioned you may be looking at 35 footers again, if that is the case i have 3 353 fastechs available. I will email you some details. - Andrew

Re: Formula F-311 SR1
I would prefer a late model "wave crusher" than has been updated (vinyl, carpet, paint, graphics, etc.) for under $40K
I would also like to see boats that are "mechanically sound" but could use some updating for under $30K |

So Clay, are you selling the Bullet or expanding your boat stable? Good luck either way, Formulas are nice boats and have a better interior for sure. Cockpit also, but I would not say a better wave crusher than what you have, although for most it would be a close call. I have friends with a 242, 292 & a 382. All are happy.
Apologize up front if some think I'm bashing on the Formula site. I'm not. Just that a 311 and a Bullet are equals in the rough. IMHO BTW, Clay. Miss your Claymate posts. |
