Mike... If that stringer is real bad and needs to be completely replace than my suggestion would be to take it to a professional that has performed this many times not just once.Not having the right people do this job will cost you double and be starting all over again. If you have any boat builders in your area they may be able to get it fixed there and know your getting the work done right and you may pay allittle for quality work. :D

I might do that ... I know John ... I guess he is still there ....but they are so busy .....prob would take months to get in ... But they are the best in the area ... and $$$$ :rolleyes:

Mike... Good glass work costs money and if they are doing alot of it you may want to get a quote on what it would be for the to spray gel in your entire engine compartment being you were going to do that,and then it will look like new and now you would have to do that dirty smelly job . :D :D

Update ... I had a guy that builds boats come by today. He said if I had not found it, I probably would not have had any trouble for a few more years. The main stringer has rot from the front bulkhead back about 18-20" and the main bulkhead is pretty much gone ... The plan for now is to form up a new Bulkhead and clean out main stringer and Use the "Seacast" to pour the stringer and bulkhead at the same time. A "T" will be formed and be solid. Its the easiest and cheapest way for now ... If it doesnt pan out we'll go to plan "B" ... And even if it seems ok .... I would like to redo the Dash and Helm area ... we can pull everything out and do it all at once. m

Mike..... I would make sure that you can see good solid material before using seacast so it will bond solid.This sounds like the same way you can somewhat repair transoms by injecting resine in the rot areas. Good luke on your project. What color are you going to do the bilge. :D

the one question I have for the SeaCast people is whether to have a flush cut in the good wood or take a saw and cut out a cpl of the layers of plywood ... that way the joint would be laminated to the Seacast ....

IMO the only what that I would consider doing the SeaCast is if you can gut it from one end to the other. I would not think that you would want to have a break in your stringer like that. If it was farther up in the bow I doubt it would matter much however remember, your motors hang off that thing and it takes ALL the pounding of the boat. to have a break in the middle sounds scarry to me.
