I went to look at a 88' 242 last night for a buddy of mine-- it was a pretty clean boat. As i got to the transom I noticed all kinds of gel coat cracks around the outdrive looking like the transom was flexing. I then looked in the engine compartment to notice that the motor mounts seemed to be moving -- judging by the aluminum dust around where they sit.
My question is if this is a common problem for the 242 with a big block? Or is it just a soft transom in this particular boat?
Any insight is appreciated,
Dave

Thanks for the replies
He's looking for something in the 24- 26 ft range with a single bbc. The formulas are usually a pretty well built boat so he's kinda been looking for one of those, and also a 24' Pantera.
He'll just keep looking
