Question realistic 382 speeds

05 or 04 382 Gen...Stellings vs ITS...What top speed should I expect with stellings...or ITS. What prop setup for optimum perf...Thanks

525's/Stellings very low 80's GPS,ITS maybe 2mph less.John Buyers on the board here has fine tuned his a few mph more,maybe he will chime in.Tom Caruso from Total Marine has more race boat experience,maybe he will chime in.Props on a 382 are more of an art than a science,with lots of variables. Don't have my notes on props at home,will look tomorrow. Robert

great info thanks..looking at 05 382 gen air stellings 61 hrs.78.9 on GPS now can I expect more..probably not Thanks

Yeah, I would have to agree with Magicfloat. I do wonder why guys spend all of that money for 525's and Stellings boxes and then put generators in their boats! Get rid of the weight and go faster!

Seriously, you are probably at the upper end of what you can expect unless you go to serious mods like bottom blueprinting and weight saving. Try some prop work (I always liked four-bladed Hydromotives the best on our F-2 boat). Try inward rotation. It works well for some boats, not so well for others. You never know until you try.

Enjoy it, its a great boat.
