Trim Crazy?

Ok, I tend to think of crazy things and then someone points out that I'm crazy. Imagine that! ...

If I were to wire up a single trim button [up/down] [combined left & right bravo] on the left throttle lever would this be crazy? It could be overridden with the dash switches. The switch is made for a single, but I'm not thinking of any reason why it wouldn't work with my twins. Anyone?

It can be done , but not that easy. Once you tie them together on the throttle , the single switches will operate both also unless you have diodes in the circuit to keep the 12 volts from feeding into the other one. I think somebody produces such a switch , but don't know who :(

My 336 has just such a control, as I'm sure most newer boats do. I would imagine it is retrofitable....

I have the Livorsi on my 89 311, works like a dream and very handy when you need to "run" the boat :p

Had one with a single switch from Rex Marine on my 311 throttle. You need to have the diode kit for it to work correctly. Best to use when trimmed out and running fast and need to haul the nose down quickly without taking your hand off the throttle if you get loose.

You can also get them with double switches.

Re: Trim Crazy?

Yeah, I have the one from Rex Marine also. It works really good! The switch on the handle only works the "trim" settings. If you need to trim further up (shallow water or trailering) then, you need to use the dash switches.

Good luck!

You can for sure do this. BUT the diodes are a must to prevent the juice from going places you don't want it going. Take a look at AXA's post on the switch he is offering, the bottom pic shows the diodes. You have to have them and they must be rated correctly for the application. Buy the package deal AXA has and get all the right stuff and save a buck at the same time.
