87 242 propellor options
Can anyone recommend the proper propellor for a 242 with a 454 and no bottom paint, 1.47 Alpha drive. I have a 20 pitch quicksilver QA6186 20 4 blade alum. on it now. It gets out of the hole nice, but I can only get 43mph gps @4500RPM.
I am told the boat should do 50mph. Can anyone recomend a 3 blade stainless prop for this boat, and what specs it should be?
Thank you,
Brian

Have 91' model (search jrockets 242) with a 23p Hydromotive quad IV turns 5500 @ 62 A little twistedup 502.
The boat isn't built to fly but it sure is a comfortable ride.
I also have a labbed 23 mirage 3 blade it will spin 5800.

Re: 87 242 propellor options
Does anyone know what RPM a stock 454 should turn? I thought it was between 4400 and 4600 @ WOT. The motor is a new(rebuilt) unit that has about 20 hours on it. I also know that the ALpha drive is a weak point for the 1987 with a 454. That was a brand new unit 3 years ago. I was going to try a friend of mines 19 pitch mirage first and see what happens. I don't want to explode the motor with too much RPMs.

I run the same setup you have but I have a 242ls with a bravo 1 22 pitch, labbed a little 54.5 gps. I believe this is as good as it gets for a stock set up 4600 rpm.
